Beginning with Bengal, religious and social reform movement spread to other parts of India. Inspired by Brahma Samaj, the Vedic society was established in Madras in 1864. It opposed caste discrimination and encouraged widow remarriage and women education. Like the Brahma Samaj, Vedas also opposed the beliefs of superstitious and Hindu religion and believed in a great day. Chamdeti Shri Radhalu Naidu was the most prominent leader of Vedas society.

Like the Brahma Samaj, Vedas also opposed the beliefs of superstitious and Hindu religion and believed in a great day. Chamdeti Shri Radhalu Naidu was the most prominent leader of Vedas society. He translated books of Brahma Sammelan into Tamil and Telugu languages. Later branches of Brahma Samaj were established in some cities of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamilnadu and soon afterwards the branches of prayer society were established. These two societies worked together to promote social and religious reforms.
Kandukuri was the most prominent leader of the reform movements of South India. He was born in 1848 AD in a conservative Brahmin family of Andhra Pradesh. He was influenced by the ideas of Brahma Samaj, especially Keshav Chandra Sen, and dedicated himself to social reform. In 1876, he brought out a Telugu letter which was almost totally devoted to social reforms. His greatest contribution was in the field of women's liberation, including women education and widow remarriage.

An agitation was started for the upliftment of Dalit and exploited by the Narayan Gurus in Kerala, especially in Kerala. Narayan Guru was born in 1854 AD. Was born in an Ejava family. Ejava and some other castes were considered untouchable by the so-called Hindu upper castes in Kerala. Narayan Guru received Sanskrit education and devoted his life to the upliftment of Ezhavas and other Dalit people. They established such temples in which there was no place for God and their idols. The first such temple was established by removing stones from the river that was nearby. The following words were written on this stone: "This is a place where all people live with brotherhood without caste discrimination and religious animosity. Narayana Guru founded the Narayana Dharma Paripalan Yogam in 1903, which became an important organization for social reform. He advocated for all 'one caste, one religion and one God'.

Many social reformers of South India associated themselves with the reforms related to Hindu temples. In this sequence, he advocated the eradication of the prevailing devadasi system in Hindu temples. He also demanded that the properties of the temples should not be the right of the priests and the public should have the right. In many temples, the so-called low castes did not have the right to enter, even the roads which were completed by the temples were also prohibited for them. The reformers carried out a strong movement to end the entry of temples and other many other practices related to temples.
